PA-03: Make Me a DFA Grassroots All-Star!
Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 08:01:39 AM PDT
I’m a proud Progressive, and I’ve run this campaign for Congress without pulling any punches. I’m the only candidate in Pennsylvania’s 3rd District absolutely committed to supporting Universal Health Care for every American. I’ve been vocal in my opposition to triangulating and capitulating on critical legislation, and to the weak behavior of our majority. I’ve called for a withdrawal from Iraq, reforming our education system, creating a new energy policy, and restoring our Constitution.
I’ve run to be a leader the people of the Third District can be proud to vote for. But now, I want everyone in America to vote for me.
My name is Mike Waltner, a member of Democracy for America, and I’m running for Grassroots All-Star.
I know you only have three votes you can use, and it’s a big request that you share one of them with me when we have so many incredible candidates in dozens of races.
Unlike the guys I’m running against for the Third District nomination, I’m basing my candidacy on the notion that a truly grassroots campaign can still win if it remains true to its ideals. I’m not willing to change my positions on critical issues like the war and health care to score a few points. I’d rather work to convince the voters that we need health care for all Americans, and that we need to bring our troops home from Iraq as soon as possible. I don’t believe we can afford to surrender on these moral imperatives.
Our candidates can’t bring change if we don’t provide the voters real alternatives to the right-wing agenda. I think 2008 will be an election unlike any we’ve ever seen before, and the voters need an alternative to yet another term of Republican regression, recession and repression. I think they deserve a choice between the ineffective and cold right-wing agenda supported by Rep. Phil English, and real Progressive values like I have always supported.
Give the people of the Third District a real choice in this election, and I’m certain they’ll make the right one.
From the day I declared my candidacy until the day—almost a year from now—when I am sworn in to Congress, I will be putting my faith in the power of the people to create a better life for themselves, and a better future for those who follow us. And once I get to Congress, I will work to restore that faith in others.
Please help me bring real faith—faith in our agenda for progress and in our collective power to enact it—back to Washington.
Thanks,
Mike Waltner
